The Imperfectly Perfect Hero
A hero to me is someone you look up to, someone you want to be like. Your own personal superhero. My hero was my dance teacher Marva Joyce. I met this lady when I was almost 3. This women, I can't even describe how much of an impact she had on everybody she met. Seriously, you could have met her once, and you would have never forgot her. She is the type of person who is a strict and a hard ass, but its all out of tough love. She is a pusher. She worked in Waukegan (my hometown) for over 50 years, just being a dance teacher. Keeping kids off the streets. She would put on a dance show every year. It was amazing. I can't tell you how much she meant to me. Just talking about her, and reminiscing on all the memories. I danced at her studio for 14 years. I grew up with her, being my second mom. She gave the best advice and loved everybody. But in 2004 she was diagonsed with brain cancer, and passed away in 2005. She will always be in my heart as a strong, determined, helpful hero.
